The NuvaRing insert states the ring can be safely removed for 3 hours without altering your chances of accidental pregnancy. Scroll down to page 4, #19 ("Expulsion") for details. I've used the ring for several years with no problems. I leave it in during sex because my spouse isn't bothered by it, and I've never had a problem with it falling out. You can remove the NuvaRing® by hooking your index finger under the forward rim, or, by holding the rim between your index and middle finger and pulling it out. Place your used ring in the foil pouch and dispose of it out of the reach of children and pets.
I can imagine the nuvaring hurting for some people and not others. Body types (including vagina and penis shapes) vary drastically between people. But from what I've read, I judge it's perfectly fine to take out during sex, so long as you place back in under 3 hours, otherwise you'll have to use another form of birth control for 7 days after. You started Nuvaring, it can take a few days for your period to start especially when your on yo ur first mornth of Nuvaring. It takes 3 months for your body to regulate hormones. Now if you had unprotected sex within the first week of being on nuvaring (if you hadn't been on another birth control method before) then it's possible to get pregnant.
d probably still have break-through bleeding for the first few cycles, she was pretty sure that using Nuvaring would regulate my cycle back to something reasonable, like, having one period a month instead of one period every two weeks. But I still have a lot of bleeding (more than spotting; enough that I need to wear a pad and not just a panty-liner) every two weeks, though it's not as heavy. NuvaRing® Use: If you are using the NuvaRing®ring in a cyclic way, you will remove the ring after 3 complete weeks or 21 days and wait 1 full week before you insert a new ring. You will likely have a period during the ring-free week.
